Carter leads the Firm's Real Estate practice. Prior to the formation of Stout Walling Atwood LLC, Carter was a partner with Lamberth, Cifelli, Stokes & Stout, P.A., Atlanta, Georgia, a 20-attorney firm where he practiced law for more than twenty years. He has practiced in the commercial real estate and corporate law practices for the most of his career.
A widely sought-after real estate attorney, Carter was elected by his peers to the position of Chair-elect of the Real Property Section of the Atlanta Bar Association, and will serve as Chair in 2008-09. He has been awarded a AV-rating by the legal publication Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating that the company awards.
Carter is very active in the community. He is Chair of the Finance Council for his Church, serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for The Atlanta Academy, Inc., and is on the Advisory Board for St. Pius X Catholic High School. He is an Eagle Scout. A native Atlantan, Carter has his B.A. from Emory University. He graduated from Mercer University Law School in 1985 and earned his L.LM in Taxation from Emory University in 1992. Carter was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1985. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Georgia, Court of Appeals of Georgia, and U.S. 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. He is member of the American Bar Association, the Sandy Springs Bar Association, The Lawyers Club of Atlanta and The Old War Horse Lawyers Club.
